United Kingdom Track and Field All-Time Lists

EUROPEAN COMBINED EVENTS CUP

First held in 1973 the European Combined Events Cup was originally contested on a knock-out basis with semi-finals and a final. However since 1983 the event has been contested on a divisional basis with promotion and relegation between the various divisions. The A, B and C Finals were retitled Super, First and Second Leagues in 1993. Each nation enters four athletes with the scores of the best three finishers totalled to calculate the team score (in recent years nations not entering full teams have been allowed to enter individual athletes in the Second League). Scores are given using tables in use at time of competition. Major changes to men's and women's tables were made in 1985. In the women's pentathlon 800 metres replaced 200 metres in 1978. The pentathlon was replaced by the heptathlon in 1981.
