INTERNATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The first championships, held in Hamilton in 1903, were competed for by the four home nations. France were the first overseas entrants in 1907. A junior men's event was added in 1961 (the 1963 event was declared void due to the number of over age athletes) and a women's in 1967. This section lists British winners prior to the adoption as the World Championships by the IAAF in 1973 (English unless stated otherwise).
